This installment of the Joseph Smith Papers contains documents from 1 August to 31 December 1843. This time period saw the saints petition the federal government for authorization to mobilize the military against mobs as persecution continued to grow. The saints also worked on the Nauvoo temple and received more knowledge about the priesthood and sealing power.
"The ninety-eight documents featured in Documents, Volume 13 chronicle this tumultuous period in church history and provide necessary context for understanding the explosive events that unfolded during the final six months of Joseph Smith's life." [From book flap] -
