Scholarly treatises on Mormon culture began in this century as the result of graduate research in the social sciences. The first treatise was presented by Edgar Wilson in 1906 at the University of Berlin. Since then more than a hundred dissertations have been written on aspects of Mormon life. A chronological list of Ph.D. dissertations of Mormon culture and history is included.
