Feels that the fears and tensions which have heretofore prevented the writing of a competent Mormon history are gone. 'The time is ripe for the study of Mormon history to emerge on a new plane of maturity.' However, the lamentable fact is that there is no satisfactory biography of Joseph Smith or Brigham Young, nor have there been published satisfactory histories of the Utah Mormons or the Reogranized Church. As of new the Latter-day Saints have not demanded that these and other vital histories be written.
