This book discusses David W. Patten, one of the apostles of the early Church. It begins with relating Patten's early life, and conversion, describing his spiritual gift of healing and his missions to Michigan, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Kentucky, and New York. The book also discusses David Patten's negotiating with mobs in Missouri and his experience as part of Zion's camp; his ordination to and duties of apostleship; his encounter with Cain, his fight with Joseph Smith in Kirtland; his experience in the Mormon War and his death at the Battle of Crooked River; his wife, Ann Patten's, life; a brief history of Samuel Bogart; and David Patten's legacy.
The appendix includes Patten's family history and a song Patten sang in tongues. -
