Jensen treats a later phase of Mormon emigration, 1869-1887, a time when machine locomotion overtook both the sail boat and the ox train. The article, then, is a useful addition to previous studies that focus on earlier migration. Jensen provides several useful charts on the total cost of transportation as well the volume of emigrants coming to Utah. His study concludes with the disincorporation of the Perpetual Emigrating Fund.
