This article compares Ancient Mesoamerican uses of puns and talionic punishment (punishment specifically suited to the crime) to the story of Korihor in the Book of Mormon. It shows that Korihor's punishment of being struck dumb is deeply ironic in context and aligns with Mesoamerican culture.
