"The story of Church history has in large part been 'his' story. Names like Brigham Young, Heber C. Kimball, and Hyrum Smith are well known Latter-day Saint households. Their faithful deeds of yesteryear are legendary, as are their stories of willingness to stand in support of the Prophet Joseph Smith. While I have written and spoken about 'his' story for decades, there has been a constant nudge within me to tell 'her' story-- a story of women who also knew the Prohet Joseph Smith but whose faith and deeds have been obscured by the limelight of 'his' story. Since few women in the Prophet Joseph's era wrote memoirs or kept diaries or journals, I rationalized for too long that 'her' story would unforutnately remain unknown. But not anymore! There is a great need for the rising generation of talented young women to have faithful exemplars--women who faced persecution, danger, heartache, and disappointments but never lost sight of the prophetic calling of Joseph Smith or the covenant path that leads to life eternal. To have female exemplars to mirror who stood firm when faced with temptation and prayed for Joseph Smith in his extremities is to reach in to the past for blessings today." [Author]
