This book is a sociological analysis of the changes that have come over Mormonism as it was transformed from a 19th century theological Kingdom to a twentieth century Church, as seen specifically through a study of general conference addresses. The authors hold that the Church has a different view of the nature of the Kingdom than it did in the 19th century and that, in part, this change was influenced by a variety of secular concerns. The authors also trace changes in various doctrinal emphases, as well as administrative structure and practice. @@@
