As the publishers of Exponent II celebrate thirty years of publication, Claudia Bushman describes how educated housewives and university students began meeting together to discuss issues facing Mormon women. These women decided to create a newspaper. Bushman was chosen as the editor and they called it Exponent II. They felt they were following in the footsteps of the early pioneer women who published the Woman's Exponent. Bushman describes the work it took to produce this newspaper. Eventually, she resigned as editor of Exponent II because as a stake president's wife she was advised by a leader within the Church to discontinue her work with the paper.
