The childhoods of six Idaho women (three sets of sisters) were studied, summarized, and analyzed. The thesis included interesting, sometimes amusing, and historically significant childhood sketches. Women's studies, Mormon studies, western American farming history, or Idaho folklife issues were present throughout the work. Interviews with five women and the personal history of one woman who died in 1979 were the principal sources of the thesis. The thesis provides an organized summary of these primary documents and would be useful to scholars willing to enhance their formal history study with vernacular material. This study of oral recollections combined with memoirs yielded clear, colorful accounts of childhood in southeastern Idaho during the early 1900s. (author's abstract)
