A very long letter, to the editor of The Fortnightly (see above), showing considerable hauteur at the recipient's criticism of a poem (Unknown God) which the poet had set him for publication. Watson goes into great detail to defend his poesy, ending on a high note of rather childish pique: I have, however, no further alteration of any kind to make in it, & wish to dismiss it from my mind at once to betake myself to other work.... The recipient of this letter and the one above may well be Leonard Henry Courtney, first Baron Courtney.
