Portraits. The first published account of the Crimean War. A source book of great importance. The author was the "Times" correspondent and his account of the war is a first-hand one. His dispatches inspired Florence Nightingale and he is the author of the famous phrase "the thin red line," referring to the British infantry at Balaclava, though in this work it is written "thin red streak." A very attractive copy.
