This article is similar to the 'Historical Review of the Deseret Sunday School Union' article. However, its scope is somewhat larger. For example, it details Richard Ballantyne's initial efforts to establish a Sunday School in 1849. It goes on to describe the reorganization of the Sunday School into the Union in 1867, and describes the happenings in the organization following that. Some of the more recent ones were the organization of the deaf-mute and blind Sunday schools, as well as publication of several items and other developments. The article enumerates the officers of the Union and ends with its statistics in 1898 of 116,703 totla officers, teachers, and pupils.
