Lorenzo Snow, in establishing a mission in Italy saw parallels between Mormons and the Waldenses. Snow hoped that the parallels would lead the way to many conversions and felt that he had been lead to a branch of the House of Israel. 'The history of the early Italian mission illustrates some of the problems Mormonism has encountered taking its message to all nations. It also provides insights into some of the factors which attracted early converts to Mormonism.
