Serious internal discontent developed among the Mormons while they were at Kirtland, Ohio. The failure of the Kirtland bank was a precipitating factor in the rebellion. However, the bank failure may have been more a symbol for general Mormon discontent than a direct factor in the rebellion. Covers ca. 1837-90.
