Author contends that the Mormons in Nauvoo maintained no distinction between sacred and secular but that everything was viewed in religous terms. Author uses the Nauvoo Legion, land transactions, and politics to illustrate his thesis. Author maintains all these actions had religious connotations and were designed to ensure rest, security, and peace for the Saints.
