[1979 Mormon Historical Association Winner for Best Article]
Article looks at the factors or conditions in plural marriage that lent to separation and divorce among polygamists. Both millenialism and romantic love are discussed. However, the authors feel that anomie or normlessness of the Mormon system of plural marriage was the main reason for separation and divorce, as there were not established societal constraints or procedures operative for plural marriage.
