Scandinavian-language newspapers, notably the Utah posten and Bikuben, covered news and church events during 1873-90s. Political participation in national politics was urged by editorials. Scandinavian-run businesses in Utah were advertised and supported by Mormons of Scandinavian descent. Some missionary work was done by Scandinavian Mormons in the northern midwest (Wisconsin and Minnesota, predominantly).
