Deals with the imprisonment of four Arizona Mormons in the Detroit House of Correction from December 1884 until October 1886. They had been found guilty of violating the Edmunds Law (1882) which prohibited polygamy in the territories, and their experiences, as reported in the church-owned Deseret News, hastened the exodus of Mormons into Mexico to avoid arrest. Uses many primary and secondary sources, including manuscript collections at Brigham Young University and the Church Historian's Office, Salt Lake City, Utah.
