Charlotte was a woman's suffrage activist in Utah in the 1800s. Her mother was Brigham Young's fifth wife, and Charlotte was William Godbe's fourth. Though she later divorced Godbe, the open discussion of the Godbeites affected her. Because she was divorced, Emmeline B. Wells refused to view her as an advocate for plural marriage. The two had a strained relationship for many years. Charlotte later married John Kirby, a prominent non-Mormon.
