The ongoing challenge of accomodating everyone that wanted to attend general conference was discussed. The gathering of Saints outgrew the Old Tabernacle, the Assembly Hall, the Tabernacle, and several outdoor boweries. Despite a seating capacity of 12,000 in the Tabernacle, large numbers of people were still turned away from conference. So, President Woodruff began directing concurrent sessions of conference in multiple buildings. Later, amplification technology enabled sound in the Tabernacle to be piped to the Assembly Hall. Fortunately, technology has kept pace with Church growth and the majority of members are able to participate in conference through radio, television, satellite, and internet broadcasts.
