Many Londoners who became Mormons had a great influence on the arts and culture of Utah Territory. This paper particularly examines the influence of London-bred Mormons on the development of the theater in the Utah Mormon community. Church leaders like Brigham Young and Wilford Woodruff attended the theater in London while on missions. These experiences may have made them supportive of the theater. This article discusses the various dramatic associations, British Mormon actors and actresses, concluding with the founding of the beautiful Salt Lake Theater.
