From 1894 to 1905, John A. Widtsoe served as chemist and director of the Utah Agricultural Experiment Station at the Agricultural College of Utah in Logan. During these years, the Experiment Station made a major impact on lucerne and sugar beets and was the first agency to investigate the possibilities of dry farming.
