Explores the Mormon migration myth and the reasons for Brigham Young's selection of the Valley of the Great Salt Lake as the place where the Mormons were to settle. Discusses the decision by Mormon leaders to immigrate to the Great Basin. Analysis of popular literature and interviews reveals that most Mormons believe the selection of the site was by vision and/or divine revelation. Based on 30 interviews, other primary and secondary sources.
