Article is a response to DIALOGUE Spring '66 Roundtable and should be read in conjunction with it. McMurrin answers the criticisms and questions raised by the reviewers of his book THE THEOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF THE MORMON RELIGION. Author laments the decline of intellectual quality of Mormonism. He also sees what he believes to be the worst thing possible happening to Mormon theology--appropriation by academics through default of the prophets. He further states that the chief theological atrocities are currently being committed at BYU. Finally he mourns the transformation of Mormonism from a dynamic force into an instrument of rationalization and an object of petty dispute.
