During the Church's first century, Mormon women administered to the sick and performed blessings that currently are only relegated to priesthood bearers. When questions were asked and publicly answered by Church leaders more uneasiness was felt and set off further inquiries. The history of these practices are overviewed to their official discontinuance in 1946.
