This is a detailed account of the Mormon Battalion by a participant who kept a faithful journal of the march.
Recognized as the longest military march in modern history, the Battalion was painfully separated from their families and journeyed into the unexplored and waterless Southwest. Upon finally arriving to their destination in California, they are only met with more hardships, sickness and malpracticing medics. Yet, despite all of the challenges and heartache, members of the Battalion cherished many spiritual experiences and tender mercies from the Lord.
In his account, Sergeant Tyler shares hundreds of sketches portraying the personalities of his fellow Battalion members, their pioneering of the Southwest, and their impact on the history of California.
