Focuses on the conflict during 1847-60 when Indian defeat was inevitable. Indian tribes remained flexible and in harmony with the natural ecological system, while Mormons pursued eastern methods of intensive agriculture in nucleated settlements. The two systems quickly conflicted and Indian culture deteriorated under relentless Mormon pressure and population growth. Primary and secondary sources.
