As the title suggests, this work is a narrative history of the southern Utah area, with emphasis on the parks. The author begins with the Indians who inhabited the area, then discusses early Spanish and other explorers. Several pages are devoted to the Mormon settlements in Southern Utah, and their interest around the Zion Park area. It also briefly discusses some of the problems between the Mormons and the Indians. It is not primarily a Mormon history, and has no significant interpretive contribution for Mormon history.
