Young discusses aspects of the settlement of Utah. One major focus is on the Indians and a peace meeting they held where they agreed they would not fight amongst themselves. Judge Young feels this was an important step toward the ending of Indian hostilities because it saved the settlers from having to worry about the Indians warring amongst themselves. Following his section on the Indians, Young casually discusses some of the history of Emigration Canyon.
