Mormon History Association records for membership lists were searched dating back to the first year of organization in 1966. These lists were compared and analyzed. A 43-question survey was sent to current members and a modified questionnaire was sent to people whose memberships had expired in 1988. From 338 returned surveys, various aspects and interests of the members were tallied. The survey looked at such factors as personal characteristics, religious activity, personal interests, and membership participation. This gave an indication of the current health of the organization and highlighted areas in which greater emphasis could be placed. An appendix (p. 170-76) listed annual membership figures and the statistical results of each of the survey questions.
