Thorton discusses the Mormon experience in Kirtland from the time Sidney Rigdon was converted there to the exodus from the area. Discusses the Kirtland Safety Society, its failure, and the litigation that followed. He briefly discusses whether polygamy was practiced in Kirtland, but comes to no conclusions.
