This study defines five 'interrelated and crucial transitions' in 150 years of Mormonism, described as individuaism to corporate dynasticism; authoritarian democracy to authoritarian oligarchy; theocracy to bureaucracy; communitarianism to capitalism; neocracy to gerontocracy. These are particularly important, Quinn says, in view of the demographic significance of the Church.
