Unable to halt Mormon expansion into Idaho during the 1880s, non-Mormons in that area resorted to political suppression and economic attack against the Mormon immigrants. Religious differences, social separation, economic hostility against Mormon cooperatives and political objections to Mormon theocracy all help to account for this antagonism.
