Though Spring Glen appeared to be a Mormon community according to its layout--the plat of the City of Zion--and adherence to agriculture, these were not imposed by church leadership and were adopted under the pressures of settlement and the exigencies of a desert environment. The settlers of Spring Glen (LDS) appear to be more independent and do not show the attributes of cooperation, unity, and subordination, etc., to the extent that other Mormon settlements show such qualities that mark the Mormon character.
