Faulconer argues that it is possible for God, being omniscient, to actually forget sin and no longer remember it. This is because "remembering is relational," and the meaning of events at different points in time is defined in relation to other events. Because the real past is the past that has effect on the present, and it is possible for things to occur in the present (such as repentance) that change the way that past events exert effects on the future, it is possible for the past to change. God only remembers the past that has meaning (and effect) in the present.
