In recent decades, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has made an effort to consider local culture in the art and architecture of its temples. This article examines the extent to which the Church was successful in the cases of the Paris, France and Rome, Italy temples. The authors conclude that, while many elements of local culture were incorporated, the Church has not yet set aside its predominantly American influence.
