Biography of Thomas E. Ricks, an early Mormon convert and pioneer. He was called on numerous missions, both for settlement and for proselyting, helping to settle Las Vegas, Cache Valley, and Rexburg, Idaho, where he served as a stake president. He grew up in Kentucky to slave-owning parents who started a Campbellite church. Thomas assisted in rescuing the Martin handcart company. He was involved in many confrontations with local Indians.
