This article examines claims regarding Joseph Smith's money-digging endeavors. It describes the importance of being aware of both historical facts and the inherent subjectivity of interpretation of those facts. It concludes that while Joseph's treasure seeking is an undisputed occurrence, its purpose and value remain up for interpretation.
