"I will first examine the biblical narratives of barrenness with which we are familiar-- including their account of the feelings of inadequacy and sometimes reproach or even cursing, the intense desire and efforts to conceive a child, and the blessings resulting from the births of these longed-for children. Next I will consider one instance of barrenness from apocryphal literature. Finally, with additional insights from restoration scripture and teachings, I will explore one further account, also biblical, that appears to follow this pattern of barrenness and divine intervention-- that of Adam and Eve."
