This article examines evidence claiming that "secret combinations" in the Book of Mormon refer to the freemasonry of Joseph Smith's time. It concludes that, although masonry was frequently identified as a "secret combination," the phrase was by no means limited to masonry and was commonly used to refer to any secret organization.
