The Hawaiian Temple was announced in 1915 and dedicated in 1919. Its cost was estimated at $215,000. According to President Waddoups, it was a tourist highlight of the islands and is the first temple in which ordinances were done for persons of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean ancestry.
