Zimmerman takes us chronologically through the building of the Salt Lake Temple--from 1847 when Brigham Young decided where the Temple would be built to 1887 when the temple was finally finished. He also includes excerpts from Truman O. Angell's (the Temple's chief architect)journal, which describes the building's symbolic stone cuts. The Temple became what Angell envisioned it to be: a beautiful monument with a moral message.
