"On January 21, 2000, President Gordon B. Hinckley visited Guam in what would be the first visit to the island by a prophet or president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His stop was part of a tour of many nations of the Pacific Rim, including Tarawa, Kiribati; Cairns, Queensland, Australia; Jakarta and Bali, Indonesia; Singapore; and Hawaii. Accompanying him on his tour was his wife, Marjorie Hinckley, and their daughter Kathleen Barnes, as well as President Boyd K. Packer, then the Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve, along with his wife, Donna Packer. They were greeted by the governor of Guam, Carl Gutierrez, and 684 Saints attended a meeting held at the Hilton hotel in Guam, which was also broadcast to the Saints in Saipan... The chance to have the prophet of the Lord in Guam was a special experience for these Saints and others who were in attendance." [Author]
