"The expansion of the Church in Guam, from the first soldiers who arrived during World War II to the construction and dedication of the Yigo Guam Temple, confirms that God 'remember[s] those upon the isles of the sea' (2 Nephi 29:7). The Church's programs have blessed the Saints in Guam and in Micronesia, and have aided in the growing number of Church members on the island. Over the years, as membership has increased, branches and a district have become wards and a stake, gathering places have moved from Quonset huts to chapels, and the long-awaited temple has been dedicated to bless those in the spirit world along with the Saints in Guam and Micronesia. When President Hinckley visited the island in 2000, he spoke about the growth of the Church in Guam and said, 'May the Lord bless you that you may live to see the word strengthen and grow in this part of the earth.'"
