"In this study, we examined whether Latter-day Saint youth in Utah were at more or less risk for suicidality than those of other religions or no religion. We also examined rates of suicidality for LGBQ Latter-day Saint youth and compared them to other religions. If there were differences between religions, we were interested in understanding why those differences may exist. For example, we tested whether family connections, drug use, and feeling socially connected to the community may be reasons for any differences in suicidality across religions. This is the first study examining how members of the Church of Jesus Christ, including those who identify as LGBQ, may differ from other religions in their suicidality." [Authors]
