Queer Mormon Theology: An Introduction
-
By Common Consent Press
-
"This book is broken into seven chapters that cover core tenants of queer Mormon theology. The first chapter covers the basics of terminology and our theological responsibility to be deliberate participants. The second chapter tells the story of God from a queer perspective; God is far more inclusive, expansive, and queer in our theology than we have accounted for. The third chapter discusses Jesus Christ and our active role as members of the body of Christ. In this chapter, I bring to light how we are made queer in Christ. The fourth chapter addresses concerns with The Family: A Proclamation to the World. The fifth chapter lays out various ways that queer families might create in the eternities. Eternal increase, creation, and progression is not a process reserved for cisgender heterosexuals. The sixth chapter addresses polygamy and its queerness. The seventh and final chapter offers next steps and solutions to make our policies, pews, temples, rituals, and eternities queer-inclusive. A brief afterword speaks directly to queer Mormons as we persist in our labors to legitimize ourselves with Mormonism." [Author]
