"There are three important visions in early Latter Day Saintism. The 1820 first vision of the teenager Joseph receiving a vision of Christ in answer to his earnest, seeking prayer. The 1823 vision of Moroni that tells of the significance and location of the Book of Mormon plates. Then there is the third vision-- that of Zion, the founding vision of early Latter Day Saintism developed in the period 1828-1833. This essay describes the dimensions and stories of this third vision, the founding vision of early Latter Day Saintism. It is argued that the founding vision is the greatest vision of the three, the most important, and perhaps the most neglected. Comparisons are also made with other religious movements to understand the radicality of the founding Latter Day Saint vision." [Author]
