In this article, Adamson connects the writings and publications of a few influential British commentaries, Paine's theological works, and responses to the "arch-infidel" in England and America including the Book of Mormon. He argues that they all have a loosely reactionary link between them. He also poses the argument that part of Joseph Smith's publication of the Book of Mormon served to defend the Old and New Testament against deism.
