Due to the various geographical and climate challanges beekeepers faced, Utah was deemed unstainable and relied on various imports of honey to make up for the lack of production in this region. However, after the installation of the Transcontinental Railroad, transporting bees and equipment became faster and cheaper which helped lead to large leaps in beekping technology fortify the beekeeping economy in the state.
